The problem is that proof ages
A checkable state decays. Evidence pages move. Links rot. Numbers change. We are not guessing about this. Our own manifest broke twice in its first week live, an evidence page silently gutted and then 18 stale references after a restructure. Both breaks and both repairs are logged in the manifest itself.
Your audit shipped with a standing page and a last-validated date. That date ages every day. A trust page dated four months ago reads as abandonment to exactly the careful buyer it was built for. Proof that is not current has stopped doing its one job.
What $15 a month does
- We revalidate your manifest every day with the reference validator. Every fetch of every evidence link, every excerpt, the whole chain.
- Your sign and standing page update with the date. The glowing OPEN sign with today's date on it is the deliverable. It links to a public page with your full validation history, failures included.
- If it breaks, you hear first. The exact validator output, which repair applies, and a 14-day clock that is the same for everyone. Then a reminder at three days left. Nothing else, ever.
The sign
It works like the OPEN sign in a shop window. Lit means the last check passed, with the date. Dark means it did not, with the last date it did. It links to your standing page, where anyone can read the record.
Read this before you embed it. The sign can go dark on you, in public, on your own site. If your manifest stops validating and stays broken through three fetches spread over six hours, the sign flips and says so with a date. We cannot flip it back for money and neither can you. A checkmark that can publicly turn on its wearer is a commitment, not a decoration. That is exactly why it is worth embedding.
The sign is not purchasable
The validator decides whether it glows. The check is free, open source, and identical for paying subscribers, free registry entries, and us. What you are paying for is the hosted public surface, the current date, and the alarm. Not the verdict. There is no price for the verdict.
Silence is the product working
No weekly report. No dashboard. No login. Everything this product produces is public, because the point is that other people can see it. Your customers see exactly what you see.
We designed it this way on our own evidence. Our monitoring product Pulse taught us that engagement-dependent monitoring fails, because reports go unread and the value quietly stops. So this product sends you nothing when things work. The date updating on a public sign does not need you to log in anywhere.
Pulse is intelligence for you, how AI systems see your site. Checkable Open is evidence for them, your claims, still checkable, in public. Different questions. Both exist on purpose.
The free path, stated plainly
The spec is open and free. Checkable Open is the paid service that keeps your sign lit. You can run the exact check we run, free, any time, forever:

That is the entire validator. People pay uptime monitors while curl is free for the same reason this exists: the value is the hosted surface, the daily cadence, and the alarm, not the command.
One clock, published, for everyone
Three states. Conforming while the last confirmed check passed. Failing, dated, the moment a failure is confirmed. Delisted after 14 consecutive confirmed-failing days, and the entry stays in the registry, marked, forever. Relisting is automatic on the next passing check. The lapse stays in the history.
The clock is not product copy. It is published, runnable code, applied by one shared code path to paying subscribers, free registry entries, and our own manifest. If we ever soften it for a customer, the diff would be public. Cite the rule against us whenever you like.
Subscriber #0 is us
Our own manifest runs under the same daily cron and the same clock, with the same sign: our standing page. Our repair history is already on the record, including rcpt-0031 and rcpt-0032, the correction and the repoint from the week our manifest broke. If our sign goes dark you will be able to watch it happen.
Neutrality, stated before it is ever tested
We wrote this standard and we are asking to be paid by businesses we check. That is the conflict that ruined credit ratings, and pretending it does not apply to us would be the first dishonest thing on this page. Here is how it is bounded, in public:
The spec, the schema, and the validator are free and open forever. You never need us in order to adopt this.
Registry listing is never paid and never pay-gated. Conformance decides who is listed. Payment does not.
Paying customers get marked failing the moment a failure is confirmed, and delisted on exactly the same published 14-day clock as anyone else.
Registry entries disclose their provenance, paid-audit or independent. Honest labels beat pretended distance.
We never call our own checks independent. We authored the spec and the subject is paying us. The honest phrase is "the reference validator, run by the spec's authors," and that is the phrase we use.
The sign is not purchasable. Repeated here on purpose, because it is the one that costs us money to keep.
What we are not claiming
A conforming manifest does not prove your claims are true. It proves each claim carries evidence, that the evidence is reachable, and that your corrections are append-only and public. That makes dishonesty costly, specific, and contradiction-prone over time. It does not make dishonesty impossible. Nothing does, and any monitoring product that tells you otherwise is selling something.

If you cancel, your standing page stays up with its final state, its last-conforming date, and its complete history. A tombstone, not a 404. History is append-only for everyone, ours included.
